Fisher - True NorthWhile bitterness and angst continue to fuel the songs of today's rock artists, few have the ability to make it sound as beautiful as Kathy Fisher. With True North, Fisher (which consists of Kathy and the exceptional production abilities of her husband Ron Wasserman) put together an album that combines lovely ballads with upbeat songs of anger that don't rely on screaming or excess to drive home their point. Fisher has a distinctive voice that has caught the attention of millions of people. But those people have only heard a sample of what Fisher has to offer. Fisher has lent her voice to numerous commercials (including a rendition of L-O-V-E for Chrysler), and has appeared on some various soundtracks. One of the albums songs, I Will Love You, garnered much attention in the world of music downloads, and was one of MP3.com's most downloaded songs. But the rest of the album hasn't received the amount of attention it deserves. It opens up with a clever song called Hello It's Me. On the surface, it clearly sounds like a song where a jilted lover confronts her ex, who has forgotten her as part of his many conquests. But reading the lyrics from another angle, the song is Kathy Fisher reintroducing herself to people who claimed they wanted to hear more of her music after hearing her on the Great Expectations soundtrack, only to eventually discard that album and forget about her. From there, the album continues to deliver wonderful pop offerings such as Miseryland and Had To. True North is an album that has been embraced by those who found it. So if you're looking for some great music, True North is direction to turn. And if you like True North, check out Fisher's latest album, Uppers & Downers - a 2 CD with plenty of excellent tracks, including the cover of L-O-V-E heard in the Chrysler ads.
