Vinly Kings - A Little Trip

For years, we have heard many bands called "the next Beatles." What's different about the Vinyl Kings is that they actually sound like the Beatles.

On A Little Trip, the Vinyl Kings recreate the sounds of the Beatles, from the early rock n' roll of Meet the Beatles to the experimental songs of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Every songs pulls in inspiration from one or more Beatles tunes, and the result is an album that could have been a long-lost collection of B-Sides from those loveable lads from Liverpool.

The first few songs use simple melodies that match the Beatles' early years. I Took a Chance uses a bouncy guitar line and harmonica that is reminiscent of I Should've Known Better, and Here We Go Again takes a page from the McCartney book of ballads. Once the album hits Mind Over Matter - a pastiche of melodies that recalls Happiness is a Warm Gun - the Vinyl Kings show they can do more than simple pop. There's the I Am The Walrus inspired surrealism of Chocolate Cake, the Helter Skelter franticism of Losing My Mind, and the Lennon-like balladry of Mother Dear.

But the Vinyl Kings are not just a bunch of guys trying to make a name for themselves by copying somebody else's styles. The Vinyl Kings is made up of respected musicians who have recorded with or played live with some of the biggest names in the music business. A Little Trip is an homage to the Beatles and is dedicated to the band that inspire them all. Take a little trip of your own and check out the Vinyl Kings.
